About Club Penguin Journey

An AS2-style Club Penguin remake in HTML5 that runs in your browser with nothing to download. It's free, gets a new party or event almost every month, and is one of the busiest servers around, with over a million registered penguins.

CPJ looks like Club Penguin from before the 2013 style change, but it's built in HTML5, so you just open the site and play. It went into alpha on February 5, 2023 with an Alpha Test Party and kept adding classic stuff fast: the Cave Mine, Puffle Rescue, Mancala, the stampbook, puffles, Card-Jitsu and the PSA missions all came back during 2023.

It's not just a copy of the old game. You can turn off igloo boundaries and have several igloo slots, layer hats and wigs and other items, save outfits, work shifts at the Coffee Shop and Pizza Parlor, and do party quests that pay out gems you trade with Captain Crimson for exclusive items. Newer additions include Card-Jitsu Fire (September 2025), puffle levels and affection rewards, puffle clothing and hair dye, and custom games like Jigsaw Jam.

The blog is busy. There are Monday Game Updates posts most weeks, a weekly Penguin of the Week, double coin weekends, and a big post for every party. The team also writes developer blogs; in June 2025 the head developer (who goes by Quantum Penguin) wrote a post-mortem on the delayed Infinite Tower and said the dev team had dropped from over ten people to three.

It hasn't been smooth the whole way. The game shut down suddenly on September 23, 2024 after staff were targeted with doxxing and harassment, came back on October 13 with a reworked staff team and new rules, and in January 2025 someone broke into a staff account and reached the mod panel and made everyone reset their password. Since then the player count has kept climbing, passing 1,000,000 accounts in July 2026.

Who runs it

Run by an anonymous team that posts as Journey Team. After the 2024 incident they stopped publicly naming game developers. The head developer goes by Quantum Penguin on support tickets.

Parties and updates

A party or event most months, plus Monday Game Updates posts, a weekly Penguin of the Week and monthly double coin weekends. Recent ones: Card-Jitsu Fire Party (Sep 2025), Halloween Party 2025, Holiday Jam (Dec 2025), Winter Party 2026, 3rd Anniversary (Feb 2026), Puffle Party 2026 (May) and the Food Fair (Oct 2026).

What's in Club Penguin Journey

• Party quests and gems

  Big parties have quests in the Quest Log. Each one pays gems, which you spend with Captain Crimson on exclusive items, and finishing every quest unlocks a bonus item.

• Jobs

  Grab a job item from the newspaper and serve customers at the Coffee Shop or Pizza Parlor for coins, with stamps for hitting milestones. You also get coins when someone serves you.

• Igloos

  You can switch off igloo boundaries and place furniture anywhere, have multiple igloo slots, and sort your furniture. The Igloo and Music catalogs update monthly.

• Outfit layering

  Layer several items of the same type, combine hats and wigs, and save outfits to swap between them quickly.

• EPF and missions

  All 11 classic PSA missions are playable, plus custom EPF operations with their own storyline.

• Card-Jitsu and Card-Jitsu Fire

  Regular Card-Jitsu came in July 2023 and Card-Jitsu Fire opened in the Fire Dojo in September 2025, with eight Fire stamps.

• Puffle affection

  Puffles level up as you bond with them. Higher levels unlock hairstyles, puffle clothing can be bought from the Love Your Pets catalog, and at level 40 you can dye their hair.

Is Club Penguin Journey safe?

Club Penguin Journey has a working chat filter and moderators who actually deal with reports, so it's one of the safer servers on the list. Its security looks okay from the outside, but it's missing a few extras the best servers have. Like with any CPPS, use a password you don't use anywhere else.

Past incidents

1. Sep 2024

   Staff and players were targeted by a coordinated attack that included doxxing, extortion, blackmail and leaks of internal staff chats. The game shut down on September 23. The team said no data was compromised, but the closure itself wiped all data and they restored a backup from two weeks earlier. They let go of the whole Trust and Safety team, said future moderators would need background checks and safety training, changed leadership, stopped naming developers publicly, and reopened on October 13. 2. Jan 2025

   Someone logged into a staff account using a password reused from another company's breach and got into the in-game moderation panel. The team said real passwords weren't leaked, but bcrypt password hashes could have been grabbed by capturing packet data. Everyone had to set a new password on their next login, staff had to stop reusing passwords and turn on MFA, and optional MFA for players was planned. Read more
