About Club Penguin Chapter 2

A free HTML5 remake of old-style Club Penguin, built from scratch by Ep8Script so it runs in the browser and on phones. Worth a look for its replay recorder and Fitting Room, but the blog has been quiet since July 2021.

Club Penguin Chapter 2 (CPC2) is a fan-made recreation of AS2-era Club Penguin, written from scratch in HTML5 by Ep8Script instead of running the old Flash files. The point was to keep the game alive without Flash and make it playable on phones. On mobile you add the site to your home screen and it opens full screen in landscape like an installed app.

It opened in beta on July 17, 2020. The welcome post lists the basics: walking around the island, meeting friends, Mancala and Find Four, throwing and visiting parties and meeting characters. Over the next year it added Penguin Mail, a Mine Shack, a Squidzoid stage play, a replay recorder, an Easter egg hunt, a Fitting Room for catalog clothes and NPCs with jobs.

The last blog post is from July 18, 2021, a 1st anniversary post that teased a big update and party for late July 2021. We couldn't find a post saying that update came out. The site still loads, but the CPPS wiki's server list marks it as having no staff, so treat it as a quiet server rather than one with regular events.

Who runs it

Made by Ep8Script, who wrote most blog posts. Cattusophie wrote the anniversary post. The CPPS wiki server list now marks it as having no staff.

Parties and updates

Updates came every month or two in 2020 and early 2021 (Penguin Mail, Squidzoid play, replay mode, Easter egg hunt). The last post, from July 2021, promised an anniversary party and big update, and nothing newer has been posted on the blog.

What's in Club Penguin Chapter 2

• Works on phones

  It's HTML5, so there's no Flash or download. On a phone you add it to your home screen and it runs full screen in landscape like an app.

• Replay mode

  Hit the ? icon on the toolbar and pick Record a Replay. When you stop, a file downloads that you can drag into the Replay Viewer page and scrub through. It doesn't work on mobile, and old replays stop working after each game update.

• Fitting Room

  Instead of updating every catalog, the team added a Fitting Room where you can try on and pick out the clothing items that are available.

• NPCs

  NPCs with green name glows stand around the island with jobs, and you can talk to them to get at their own sets of items.

• Penguin Mail

  You can send letters to friends and other penguins you meet. Everyone got a special letter when it launched in August 2020.

• Stage plays

  The Stage has run plays like Squidzoid vs Shadow Guy and Gamma Gal and A Humbug Holiday, with costumes from the Costume Trunk.

• Classic minigames and parties

  Mancala and Find Four are in, and players can throw and visit parties and meet characters.

Is Club Penguin Chapter 2 safe?

Club Penguin Chapter 2 has a chat filter and some moderation, but it can be hit or miss. It's fine for most players, just use the report button if something's off. Security is rated low, which means it's missing some of the basics we check for, like proper HTTPS, up to date software or a protected sign-up. It doesn't get updated very often, so bugs and problems can stick around for a while. Like with any CPPS, use a password you don't use anywhere else.
