About Old Club Penguin

OldCP (oldcp.biz) is one of the oldest still-standing CPPS, a 2005 to 2007 style Club Penguin that grew a huge roleplay scene of houses, militaries, emperors and wars. Play it if you want the very early island plus a decade of weird player-made lore.

OldCP recreates the early Club Penguin from 2005 to 2007. The CPPS wiki says a user named Tent started building it in 2011, and the wiki now lists the owner as Damen. YouTube tours of oldcp.biz go back to around 2012, and some old videos link to it as play.clubpenguin.pro, which is why that name still shows up in the site's keywords.

What makes it different is the roleplay. The rules page has royal laws, Imperial laws for the South, lightsaber licensing, a 'Rules of Conflict' section for declaring wars, and a Military Agency that controls who gets weapons. The More page lists player houses like Drake, Stags and Hydra, a military arsenal with named in-game guns, character card packs and a World Championship that ran seasonally from 2014 to 2020.

These days it's quiet. You can still play in the browser through Ruffle at play.oldcp.biz or with desktop apps for Windows, Mac and Linux, and there's a separate Cinema Mode app. The play page points people to the Drake Hall forums, run by the same creator's game studio, saying 'Join the community, it still exists!'. The CPPS wiki server list shows it with no active staff, and its Player of the Month records stop in 2023.

Who runs it

Started by Tent, and the CPPS wiki now lists the owner as Damen. The CPPS wiki server list says it has no active staff.

Parties and updates

Old YouTube videos show parties like a Fiesta Party, and player-run wars between groups. The seasonal World Championship ran from 2014 to Spring 2020 and Player of the Month ran until March 2023. No recent events or news posts are on the site.

What's in Old Club Penguin

  • 2005 to 2007 island

The game is built around the earliest Club Penguin era. An old tour video notes you couldn't buy things and just had what was in your inventory.

  • Desktop apps and Ruffle

Play in the browser at play.oldcp.biz, which loads the game through Ruffle, or download the OldCP app for Windows, Mac or Linux.

  • Cinema Mode

A separate Cinema Mode desktop app for Windows, Mac and Linux. Staff rules say clips or screenshots from it can't be shared without permission from admins, royals or the OldCP Agency.

  • Houses, militaries and wars

Players join houses like Drake, Stags, Hydra and Imperials. The rules cover war declarations (assemble, post a timestamped screenshot, 24 hours to retaliate), Imperial laws and lightsaber licenses.

  • Military Arsenals

A page listing in-game weapons with backstories, like the OldCP Agency Defender 2014 pistol and the DRAKEHALL Golden AK47. Weapons have to be authorised by the OldCP Military.

  • Player of the Month

The player with the most time online each month wins and gets a gold username. Records run from July 2016 to March 2023, and Dice holds the record of 7 wins.

  • YouTube sharing

There's an in-game YouTube sharing queue with its own rules and a reputation system, so no spamming the same video or cheating for rep.

  • Stats page

Leaderboards for richest penguins (by gold), most popular channels and most active users.

Is Old Club Penguin safe?

Old Club Penguin has a chat filter and some moderation, but it can be hit or miss. It's fine for most players, just use the report button if something's off. Its security looks okay from the outside, but it's missing a few extras the best servers have. It doesn't get updated very often, so bugs and problems can stick around for a while. Like with any CPPS, use a password you don't use anywhere else.

Past incidents

  1. 2023

Not a breach, but data was lost: the Player of the Month page says playtime records for April to June 2023 were lost, and the server was down from July to October 2023. No statement explains why. Read more
