About Antique Penguin

An AS1 server that follows the original Club Penguin calendar from 2005 to 2008, with a new newspaper and pin almost every week. Pick it if you want the pre-Disney island with some careful custom extras.

Antique Penguin recreates Club Penguin's earliest years and releases content in line with the original timeline. Palpatine runs it and has posted nearly every update to the site's changelog since the closed beta in November 2019. You can play in the browser through Ruffle or with a desktop app for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Custom stuff is a big part of it: NPCs you can talk to, secret items (mostly colors), a camera you use at photo spots to unlock backgrounds, story bits in parties, and custom mascots like Lucky the Leprechaun, Coach Crunch and Ross, the disgraced Penguin Band member.

Its first run ended in 2023. On January 3, 2023 the server got corrupted and lost a lot of data, the game came back in March for one last event, Operation: ENDGAME, and closed on May 4, 2023. It relaunched on May 4, 2025 with Ruffle support, and the team says it will stick to AS1 instead of moving into AS2.

Since the comeback it has added outfit saving, white puffles, an Activity Board and, in February 2026, Card-Jitsu with the animations redrawn in the AS1 style. A dev blog started in September 2025 to show what's being worked on, like a daily reward and Treasure Book points shop.

Who runs it

Palpatine owns it and posts the updates. TruMaxBlu joined development in October 2019. Emibii writes the dev blog, and MrVMP and Deim0s are named as designers.

Parties and updates

Weekly updates, usually on Saturdays, with a new newspaper and pin, plus monthly catalogs and a party every few weeks. Recent: Music Jam (August 2026), Fall Fair (September 2026) and new October 2026 catalogs.

What's in Antique Penguin

• Follows the original timeline

  Parties, catalogs and rooms come out roughly when they did in the real game, with a new newspaper and pin most weeks.

• Camera photo spots

  Use the camera item at certain spots on the island to unlock backgrounds.

• NPCs and custom mascots

  NPCs like Looker and the Dock Worker talk to you, and custom mascots such as Lucky the Leprechaun and Ross show up at parties.

• Outfit saving

  Six outfit slots. The first is free and the rest cost from 6,000 up to 96,000 coins.

• AS1-style Card-Jitsu

  Card-Jitsu arrived in February 2026 with redrawn animations, and 94 cards can be bought at the Dojo.

• Secret items

  Hidden items, mostly colors, that you have to find around the island.

1. Nov 2019

   Closed beta started, with the first changelog posts on November 10 and 13. source

   Official release on December 5 with a Beta Test Party, then the first Christmas Party. source

   A Going Away Party went live on May 21. source

4. Jun 2020

   Came back on June 14 with a Welcome Back Party, and the domain changed to antiquepengu.in on June 23. source

   Third anniversary party, Newspaper #76 and Pin #77. source

6. Jan 2023

   The VPS got corrupted on January 3, near the end of the Christmas Party, and a lot of data was lost. source

7. Mar 2023

   Returned on March 21 for Operation: ENDGAME, its last event of that run. source

8. Apr 2023

   Final part of ENDGAME. The post said the game would close on May 4 and all data would be deleted. source

9. May 2025

   Relaunched on May 4 with a one-day Relaunch Party, official Ruffle support and old newspapers moved to the Boiler Room. source

10. Oct 2025

    Outfit saving released, a crossover with Penguin Origins, and a 20th Anniversary Party. source

    Fourth anniversary party and white puffles became adoptable. source

Is Antique Penguin safe?

Antique Penguin has a working chat filter and moderators who actually deal with reports, so it's one of the safer servers on the list. From the outside its security looks good, with proper HTTPS, up to date software and a protected sign-up. Like with any CPPS, use a password you don't use anywhere else.

How to play Antique Penguin

Antique Penguin plays in your browser through Ruffle, a Flash emulator, so you don't need Flash installed. If you'd rather not play in the browser they have a desktop app too. Make an account on antiquepengu.in first.

Cost

Free. It runs on donations and ads and says it will never have a membership or lock essential content behind payment. Back in 2020, Patrons got early access to some parties.
