About Penglyfe

A small custom AS2 server that's been around since January 2021, built for hanging out with lots of classic CPPS toys like !addall, name glows, penguin size and speed. It's 18+ by its own terms, and you play it in the browser through Ruffle.

Penglyfe is a custom AS2 server made by the Lyfe team, and their FAQ says it launched in January 2021. It sticks to AS2 on purpose for the old feel and says it has no plans to move the whole game to AS3, though a few custom rooms use AS3 stuff. The play site at beta.penglyfe.com is branded just "Lyfe" and runs the game in your browser with Ruffle.

It leans into the classic private server extras: an !addall command for clothes, name glows, bubble and snowball colors, penguin speed, and marriage/BFF. On top of that you can change your penguin's size, rotation and transparency, and there are custom clothing items and more than 50 rooms, some of them custom.

One thing to know before signing up: the terms say you have to be 18 or older to use the game, the website or the Discord. The homepage itself is pretty bare, just a Play button, a Discord link and a merch page that currently says "Merch Coming Soon". There isn't a news blog, so the Discord, YouTube, TikTok and X accounts are where updates would show up.

Run by the Lyfe team. No staff usernames are listed on the site, there's no staff application, and staff are picked by invite.

What's in Penglyfe

• Classic commands and cosmetics

  There's an !addall command to get clothing items, plus name glows, bubble colors, snowball colors and a penguin speed setting.

• Penguin size, rotation and transparency

  Custom extras let you change how big your penguin is, rotate it, or make it see-through.

• Marriage and BFF

  You can marry or BFF other players, a feature carried over from old-school private servers.

• 50+ rooms and custom items

  Over 50 rooms to explore including custom ones, some using AS3 features, plus custom clothing items.

• MVP status

  Players who are active both in game and on Discord can earn MVP, which gives a star on Discord and in-game powers like changing your nickname and playing music in any room. You can't ask for it, it has to be earned.

• Ruffle in the browser

  The play page loads the game with Ruffle, so you don't need Flash. The FAQ also mentions playing on tablets and phones with the Puffin app.

Is Penglyfe safe?

Moderation and chat filtering on Penglyfe are weak from what we've seen, so younger players should be careful and nobody should share personal info in chat. Its security looks okay from the outside, but it's missing a few extras the best servers have. Like with any CPPS, use a password you don't use anywhere else.

How to play Penglyfe

Penglyfe plays in your browser through Ruffle, a Flash emulator, so you don't need Flash installed. If you'd rather not play in the browser they have a desktop app too. Make an account on penglyfe.com first.
